Of the 39 teams registered to participate in the Thnot d’Or 2023, 35 finally sent the jury a concept note presenting their project to make prahok a successful product on the international market, this year’s theme of the competition.
These teams come from the agronomy and food production departments of the country’s higher education institutions: Cambodia Institute of Technology, Royal University of Agriculture, St. Paul Institute, Royal University of Phnom Penh, Battambang University, Meanchey National University, Kampong Speu Institute of Technology and Kampong Chheu Teal Institute of Technology.
Before the Khmer New Year, the jury will announce the 9 teams selected for the final that will take place in July.
The jury, composed of five members – Mr. Philippe Monnin, Mr. Sok Sarang, Dr. AI Songheang, Mr. Hay Pisey, Ms. Hélène Obry – evaluated these presentation notes according to three main criteria: relevance, feasibility and innovation.
During the final round, the selected teams will have to make an oral presentation in English of their project, which they will have to have detailed and documented on the technical level. They will also have to answer questions from the jury.
The Thnot d’Or are organized by the Kinal Foundation to support the innovative spirit of the country’s students in the fields of agronomy and food sciences. As an instrument of the PPM-Confirel Group’s social responsibility policy, the Kinal Foundation wishes to actively participate in Cambodia’s rural development by contributing to the improvement of agricultural studies so that young people become actors of innovation in the farming world.
The theme of the 2023 edition of the Thnot d’Or was chosen in consultation with the Ministry of Agriculture, the Kinal Foundation’s partner in organizing this competition.
